Cabana Acquires H&H Pool Services to Expand Bay Area Footprint

After five decades of operation in the San Francisco East Bay, H&H Pool Services has been acquired by tech-enabled service firm Cabana. The deal absorbs one of the region’s most established pool care providers into a growing network, marking a significant consolidation of local expertise under Cabana’s modernization strategy.

Founded in the early 1970s by David Hawes, H&H Pool Services built its reputation serving residential clients from Newark to Fremont. Hawes, who previously served as president of the Independent Pool and Spa Service Association, leaves behind a legacy defined by technical training and a focus on equipment maintenance for brands like Pentair and Jandy. For Cabana founder Jeremy Yamaguchi, the acquisition represents more than just a geographic expansion; it serves as a validation of his company’s thesis that the fragmented pool care sector requires greater professionalization and modernized support for field technicians.

Hawes noted that the alignment of values regarding quality workmanship was the deciding factor in the sale. Cabana, which currently manages service for over 5,000 customers, intends to leverage the existing H&H team’s experience while integrating its own digital tools and career development frameworks. By absorbing owner-led firms with deep regional roots, Cabana continues its push to scale operations across Northern California, aiming to bring standardized service levels to an industry that has historically lacked centralized infrastructure.
