Potomac Bank Distributes $278,800 in Local College Scholarships

The bank’s trust division oversaw the distribution of several key awards this year, including the Robert "Bob" F. Baronner, Jr. Scholarship, which went to Annika Feagans of Jefferson High School. That specific fund, established in memory of a former bank president, has now contributed $90,000 toward local higher education. Among the largest individual awards, Sayumi S. Rambukkanage and Scarlett E. Stone each secured $80,000 through the Robert W. McCormick Scholarship.

Additional support was provided through the S. Katherine Boxwell & Edwin P. Churchill Scholarship, which awarded a combined $88,000 to four students, including Keandra Cochran and Eva Palmer. Smaller, targeted grants—such as the Tom Mentzer Scholarship and the Paul & Margaret Dorsey Music Scholarship—distributed funds to support students attending institutions ranging from the University of Alabama to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Alice P. Frazier, President and CEO of Potomac Bank, noted that the institution views the administration of these funds as a direct investment in the character and future achievements of local students.
