The model, built on the existing Gemini 3.5 Flash architecture, will initially deploy through CodeMender, Google’s proprietary coding agent. This integration allows the system to execute rapid, repeated scans across complex code paths, a task that has historically proven prohibitively expensive with larger models. Microsoft currently utilizes Anthropic’s Mythos 5 for its security operations, a system noted for its high resource demands and costs reaching double that of Claude Opus 4.8.

Performance metrics provided by Google suggest the new model punches above its weight class. On the CyberGym cybersecurity benchmark, Gemini 3.5 Flash Cyber demonstrated competitive results against significantly larger rivals. During testing, it identified 55 unique confirmed issues within the V8 JavaScript Engine, outperforming both the standard Gemini 3.5 Flash and Opus 4.6. Notably, the model discovered 10 unique vulnerabilities that remained undetected by competing systems, validating the effectiveness of its iterative scanning approach.
