Legacy Oaks Development Breaks Ground in Houston’s Acres Homes

The project represents a strategic partnership between the Houston Area Urban League, Park Street Homes, and Citizens Trust Bank. Situated on nearly five acres donated by the Cameron Iron Workers and Charity Social Club, the site is designed to provide attainable housing while preserving the character of one of the city's most storied communities. Citizens Trust Bank is underwriting the development and construction financing, signaling a long-term commitment to addressing Houston’s critical shortage of entry-level housing.

During the ceremony, Houston Area Urban League President Judson W. Robinson III noted that the project serves as a practical application of the freedom Juneteenth represents, emphasizing that homeownership remains a primary driver for economic mobility. Kevan Shelton, CEO of Park Street Homes, highlighted that the development will integrate supportive services alongside the new housing to bolster neighborhood stability. With construction underway, stakeholders view the initiative as a model for using targeted investment to revitalize historically underserved areas while ensuring families have a pathway to long-term financial success.
