Samsung Galaxy Unpacked: New Foldables and Wearables Incoming
Samsung heads to London on July 22 for its latest Galaxy Unpacked event, setting the stage for a significant design shift in its foldable lineup. With the livestream kicking off at 9AM ET, the manufacturer aims to pivot from its traditional form factors toward hardware optimized for broader, more ergonomic displays.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 headlines the presentation, featuring a passport-like footprint that shifts away from the narrow aesthetic of previous iterations. According to leaks from Evan Blass, the device will likely pack a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor alongside a dual 50MP camera array. A more performance-oriented Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is also anticipated, prioritizing battery longevity with a 5,000mAh capacity. For the compact Galaxy Z Flip 8, expectations point to a 4,300mAh battery and a familiar camera configuration.
Beyond smartphones, the wearable ecosystem is set for a refresh. The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 appears to be the most substantial update, reportedly shedding 12 percent of its thickness while incorporating a 5,000-nit display and a robust 800mAh battery. Both the Ultra and the standard Galaxy Watch 9 will move to the new Snapdragon Wear Elite chip. The event may also serve as a platform to showcase upcoming AI-integrated smart glasses, a project involving design partnerships with Warby Parker and Gentle Monster.
