Vision Marine Technologies has filed a U.S. patent application for a system designed to regulate auxiliary power on electric vessels. The technology aims to prevent battery depletion during storage or service by intelligently prioritizing essential onboard functions over non-critical electronic loads in the company’s E-Motion 180E powertrain.

Even high-performance electric vessels rely on standard low-voltage systems to maintain controls and safety features. When a boat sits idle, these secondary loads often drain the house battery, leaving the vessel vulnerable. The new filing seeks to automate the disconnection of non-essential systems while ensuring that critical safety functions remain powered during shutdown or maintenance periods.

Daniel Rathe, Chief Technology Officer at Vision Marine, noted that the development targets the practical challenges of vessel ownership. By integrating this power management directly into the E-Motion 180E platform, the company intends to standardize how supporting systems behave across various operating states, from active charging to long-term storage. This move expands an intellectual property portfolio that already covers propulsion controls, cooling systems, and secure vessel communications. Vision Marine has previously demonstrated its high-voltage capabilities with a 116 mph speed record and integration across 25 different boat models, signaling a broader push to control every layer of the marine electric ecosystem.
