Cambium Networks Targets High-Density Venues with Wi-Fi 7 Access Point
Engineered for arenas, exhibition halls, and campuses, the new X7-56X access point from Cambium Networks delivers 17.9 Gbps of aggregate capacity. The hardware utilizes software-definable tri-band architecture and directive antennas to provide precision coverage in environments where traditional omni-directional signals struggle with interference and congestion.

The X7-56X supports up to 1,280 concurrent clients, moving away from the floodlight approach of standard networking gear. By integrating 60° x 60° directive antennas directly into the chassis, Cambium aims to reduce the physical footprint and cabling complexity that typically plague high-density deployments. Jonathan West of the National Ice Centre noted that the integrated design simplifies installation in venues with high ceilings, effectively eliminating the need for external antenna arrays.
Beyond raw throughput, the unit incorporates AI-driven optimization and an integrated controller to manage traffic across the 5 GHz and 6 GHz spectrums. These features form part of the broader ONE Network architecture, which allows IT administrators to monitor infrastructure through the cloud-based cnMaestro X platform. According to Bruce Miller, VP of Enterprise Product Management, the goal is to balance the rising demand for device connectivity with a reduction in the total number of access points required for large-scale coverage. The system also includes built-in support for IoT protocols including BLE 5.1, Zigbee, Matter, and Thread, positioning the device as a central hub for smart building management.
