Monique Burr Foundation Names Ashley Garrett as CEO
After nearly three decades of advocacy work, Ashley Garrett has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Monique Burr Foundation for Children. A former Vice President of Prevention Education at the Jacksonville-based organization, she now steps into the top role to direct the foundation’s global child safety initiatives.
Garrett brings an extensive background in human trafficking prevention and international development to the foundation. Previously, she served as the Human Trafficking Practice Lead for ICF and held the position of Founding Director of the National Human Trafficking Training and Technical Assistance Center within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Her career spans work across 20 countries, including collaborations with United Nations agencies and federal departments.
Edward Burr, the foundation’s founder and board chairman, noted that Garrett’s track record in results-driven leadership makes her the right choice to steer the organization through its next stage of development. The foundation, established in 1997, currently provides evidence-based safety curricula to students ranging from pre-K through high school. To date, these programs have reached 22 million children across 42 states and seven countries, focusing on the prevention of bullying, digital dangers, and exploitation.
