Founders Reclaim Environmental Assets in Mustang Containment Acquisition
Todd and Whitney Creel have reacquired the Western and Southwestern environmental lining and water management assets they originally built, marking a full-circle return to the containment business. The deal, finalized July 11, sees the founders reclaim the operations from Mustang Extreme Environmental Services to anchor their independent platform.
The Creels, who launched their original venture in 2011, sold a majority stake to Blue Wolf Capital Partners in 2018, leading to a merger with Extreme Plastics Plus. By reclaiming these specific assets, the Fort Worth-based Mustang Containment Solutions now operates as a standalone entity focused on turnkey geosynthetic construction and water treatment services. The company retains a significant portion of its legacy workforce, aiming to leverage existing expertise across the energy, mining, and agricultural sectors.
"We built a successful oil and gas geosynthetics construction company, and today we are returning to our roots," said CEO Todd Creel. The firm currently manages operations through offices in Texas and Oklahoma, providing specialized services ranging from chemical water treatment and leak detection to large-scale liner installations. While the financial terms of the transaction remain private, the leadership team plans to prioritize expansion to meet rising demand for industrial water management and containment infrastructure.
