Ascletis Targets Obesity Market With New Once-Monthly Injectable

Preclinical data for Ascletis Pharma’s ASC36_35 FDC, a once-monthly injectable co-formulation, showed superior weight loss in animal models compared to the combined use of eloralintide and tirzepatide. The findings are scheduled for presentation at the 62nd European Association for the Study of Diabetes Annual Meeting in Milan this October.

The drug candidate, which utilizes the company’s proprietary Ultra-Long-Acting Platform, targets the amylin receptor, GLP-1R, and GIPR. By combining ASC36 and ASC35 into a self-assembling lipid depot formulation, Ascletis aims to provide a more effective alternative to existing weight-loss treatments. The research was conducted using diet-induced obese rats to measure efficacy against current therapeutic standards.

Jinzi Jason Wu, founder and CEO of the Hong Kong-based biotech, stated that the inclusion of these results in an oral discussion at the upcoming EASD meeting underscores the clinical potential of the triple-target approach. The presentation, designated as abstract 768, will take place on October 1, 2026, during a session focused on emerging agents in the diabetes and obesity landscape.
