Amazon Integrates Luna Gaming Directly Into Prime Video
Amazon is merging its fragmented gaming assets into a single destination, embedding its Luna cloud-streaming service directly within the Prime Video interface on Fire TV devices. This pivot targets casual viewers already browsing for movies and sports, signaling a shift away from the company’s previous attempts to capture hardcore gaming audiences.
Users in the US and UK can now launch titles such as Fallout 4, Hogwarts Legacy, and EA Sports FC 26 without leaving the Prime Video ecosystem. This move mirrors Netflix's recent push into television-based cloud gaming, aiming to convert passive streamers into active players. Amazon gaming executive Jeff Gattis acknowledged the company has struggled to establish itself as a primary gaming platform, suggesting that leveraging existing intellectual property like Tomb Raider and James Bond will be central to this new strategy.
The new Games tab also serves as a marketing engine for Amazon’s original content. The company is using the interface to push tie-in experiences, such as the card battler Masters of the Universe: Legends Unite and an AI-powered party game featuring Arnold Schwarzenegger. By blurring the lines between cinematic content and interactive play, Amazon hopes to capitalize on the massive reach of its video subscribers while promising further expansion into additional devices and regions in the coming months.
