Reputation Outweighs Pricing for Precious Metals Investors

Nearly 70% of investors prioritize a firm’s reputation over all other factors when selecting a precious metals dealer, according to a new survey from Lear Capital. The findings suggest that long-term financial security concerns drive consumers toward established trust rather than simple price-cutting or high-profile marketing campaigns.

The survey, which polled 558 investors, highlights a clear hierarchy of needs within the precious metals market. While transparent pricing and fees secured the second spot with 44.6% of the vote, competitive pricing trailed further behind at 34.4%. These figures indicate that investors are prioritizing verifiable track records and fee clarity over promotional discounts, which ranked near the bottom at 21%.

"Investors in precious metals are making decisions that affect their long-term financial security," said John Ohanesian, CEO of Lear Capital. The data suggests that the human element remains a significant driver in the industry. Rapport with a company representative outperformed general customer service reputations, showing that personalized interaction still holds substantial weight. Conversely, celebrity endorsements proved largely ineffective, ranking last among all evaluated categories at just 4.8%.
