Las Vegas Vestis Workers Vote to Strike Over Labor Disputes

Jason Gateley, Secretary-Treasurer of Local 14, highlighted a pattern of managerial misconduct spanning more than a year. He cited a specific instance where an employee was denied leave to attend the birth of his child, an incident representatives say was ignored by regional management despite repeated warnings before and after their contract expired on May 1.

Following the filing of unfair labor practice charges last week, the union is accusing Vestis of retaliating against staff for protected union activities. The workers are now calling for direct intervention from senior leadership to address these grievances and guarantee protection against further retaliation. While the union maintains it wants to preserve a positive relationship with the employer, it insists that any resolution hinges on the company restoring a respectful and safe workplace for all Las Vegas staff.
