Sling Aircraft Launches MOSAIC-Compliant 2M Trainer

The Sling 2M arrives as a direct result of the manufacturer’s multi-year involvement with the ASTM International Committee F37. By engineering structural and systems adjustments into the NGT platform during the standard-setting process, the company avoided a post-rule redesign period. Co-CEO Andrew Pitman noted that this patient approach allows the factory to ship compliant units immediately rather than waiting for lengthy development cycles.

The 2M variant increases the maximum gross weight to 1,540 lb, providing a useful load exceeding 600 lb. This capacity accommodates a whole-airframe parachute system, two adults, and enough fuel for over eight hours of flight time. Equipped with the Garmin AXIS Flight System, the aircraft is now approved for IFR operations in instrument meteorological conditions. These enhancements aim to solve common flight school constraints, such as weight limitations for instructors and students and the need for frequent refueling.

Alongside the hardware launch, the company debuted the Sling Safety Network. This ecosystem provides fleet operators with standardized training documentation, safety management tools, and AI-driven debriefing resources. Currently, approximately 20 flight schools across North America utilize the Sling NGT platform. According to North American Co-CEO Matt Liknaitzky, the network is intended to foster collective operational excellence, moving beyond the capabilities of individual institutions to provide a unified framework for fleet growth.
