OrcaRouter Debuts Free BYOK for AI Infrastructure

San Francisco-based developer platform OrcaRouter launched Free BYOK today, enabling engineers to integrate their own API keys into a unified routing gateway. The service eliminates platform fees for users who bring their own credentials, providing a fallback layer that maintains direct billing relationships with primary AI model providers.

The new functionality allows teams to mix developer-owned keys with platform-managed access, effectively centralizing complex routing logic behind a single API. By removing the requirement to choose between proprietary provider accounts and managed infrastructure, the tool aims to solve common AI deployment hurdles like rate limits and provider outages.

"Developers should not have to choose between controlling their provider accounts and accessing production-grade routing infrastructure," said FY Tian of OrcaRouter. The system handles automatic failover and adaptive model selection, ensuring that applications remain functional even when specific provider credentials face latency or availability constraints. This hybrid approach reduces vendor lock-in, as workloads can shift across providers without the need for extensive code rewrites.
