Nova Biomedical Acquires NanoCellect Assets to Expand Bioprocessing
Waltham-based Nova Biomedical has acquired key assets from NanoCellect, integrating microfluidic cell sorting technology into its existing biopharmaceutical portfolio. This move aims to streamline the transition from early-stage cell line development to commercial manufacturing by linking selection, isolation, and verification into a unified workflow.
The integration of the WOLF G2 cell sorting platform complements Nova Biomedical’s Solentim portfolio, specifically enhancing capabilities for clone generation and growth analysis. By combining NanoCellect’s gentle cell isolation with established analytical tools like the BioProfile FLEX2 for metabolite analysis and OsmoTECH for osmolality measurement, the company intends to provide a more cohesive suite of technologies for the bioprocessing lifecycle.
John Luck, president of Nova Biomedical’s Biopharma Business, noted that the acquisition addresses critical upstream needs by creating a more connected platform. This consolidation is designed to accelerate development timelines and improve the reliability of clone selection. As biopharmaceutical companies face pressure to scale production efficiently, Nova Biomedical is positioning its expanded toolkit to bridge the gap between initial research and large-scale manufacturing.
