NAVER Secures $10 Billion Investment for Korean AI Infrastructure
A coalition led by NAVER, Brookfield, and NVIDIA is scaling South Korea's sovereign AI capabilities, announcing a $10 billion project to expand a data center facility in Sejong to 200 megawatts. The initiative aims to provide local and international innovators with the massive compute power required for next-generation AI development.
The capital injection includes $9 billion from Brookfield, acting as the exclusive financial partner, alongside a $1 billion investment from NVIDIA. NAVER will cover the remaining balance to transform its GAK Sejong hyperscale site into a hub for advanced AI production. By utilizing NVIDIA’s latest Vera Rubin and Blackwell hardware platforms, the infrastructure is designed to support the creation of autonomous agents and complex physical AI models.
Beyond hardware, the collaboration deepens the integration of NAVER’s HyperCLOVA X models with NVIDIA’s Nemotron architecture. NAVER has joined the NVIDIA Nemotron Coalition, signaling a shift toward open model development that spans pretraining and reinforcement learning. This ecosystem will provide Korean enterprises and government bodies with the tools necessary to compete in the global AI market, with a specific focus on urban spatial modeling and agentic software slated for deployment later this year.
