Google Signals Price Increases for Upcoming Pixel 11 Lineup

The era of stable pricing for Google’s flagship smartphones is coming to an end, as internal shifts in memory supply costs force a departure from previous retail strategies. Shakil Barkat, Vice President of Devices and Services, indicated that the company can no longer absorb the fluctuating economics of the global hardware market.

Barkat noted that Google had long shielded consumers from supply volatility, but the company is now forced to adapt. He described future pricing as dynamic adjustments meant to align with current supply realities. This shift mirrors broader industry trends, as firms like Apple, Microsoft, and Nintendo have similarly raised hardware costs to offset the rising price of memory driven by the expansion of AI data centers.

While official confirmation remains pending, the base model Pixel 11 is projected to launch at $899, featuring a 256GB storage entry point. Rumors also suggest a potential hardware compromise for the Pixel 11 Pro, which may see a reduction from 16GB to 12GB of RAM. The final specifications and pricing structure will be revealed during Google’s product announcement scheduled for August 12th.
