After a Costa Rican stingray sting, Ryan Bissell finds his voice

Bissell spent decades playing guitar while producing little more than fragmented, unfinished melodies. The transition from freestyling gibberish to structured songwriting arrived only after the 2023 injury forced him into a state of permanent wakefulness. With his guitar finally pulled from under his bed, the creative block evaporated. He began writing songs that felt as though they had existed in his mind for years, eventually partnering with producer Paul Gigliotti—known for his work with the pop-rock duo Wave—to bring the material into the studio.

The debut single, Get Up Get Ready, serves as the centerpiece of this transformation. Driven by a tense, rhythmic arrangement, the track acts as an ode to the precipice of change. Bissell delivers the lyrics with a raw, restless energy, centering on the mantra: "Get up, come on get ready, for anything." It is an authentic dispatch from an artist who spent years waiting for his own life to catch up to his music.
