AsymBio Breaks Ground on Shanghai R&D Hub for Biologics Acceleration
Construction is underway on a new eight-story research facility at AsymBio’s Fengxian site in Shanghai. The building serves as the physical backbone for the company’s AccPCC platform, aiming to shorten the transition from lead optimization to preclinical candidate selection through an integrated, AI-enabled development workflow.
Slated for completion in late 2027, the 20,000-square-meter facility will house specialized labs for cell line development, upstream and downstream processing, and comprehensive analytical services. The project is designed to align early-stage research directly with existing clinical and commercial antibody manufacturing lines, reducing project handoffs and accelerating the path to commercialization.
CEO Rui Yang noted that the site is intended to foster earlier integration of manufacturing considerations into the research phase. By leveraging the broader resources of the Asymchem Group, the hub will support an expansive pipeline of antibody-drug conjugates and protein-based therapeutics. The building itself is being constructed to meet green, low-carbon standards, anchoring the Fengxian site as a central node in the firm’s global CDMO network.
