Waaree Renewable Technologies Targets ANZ Market With New Zealand Solar Project
Mumbai-based Waaree Renewable Technologies Limited has secured an Early Contractor Involvement agreement to develop a utility-scale solar project in New Zealand. By partnering with two local firms, the Indian EPC specialist signals its strategic entry into the Australia and New Zealand renewable energy landscape, marking a major milestone for the company’s international expansion.

The project, which integrates solar photovoltaic technology with a Battery Energy Storage System, aims to become one of the largest renewable energy installations in New Zealand. Under the initial agreement, WRTL will oversee solar supply and engineering requirements. Should the early-phase work conclude successfully, the consortium is positioned to secure a full Engineering, Procurement, and Construction contract for the site.
Sunil Rathi, Executive Director at WRTL, noted that the move reflects the company’s confidence in the regional market's potential and its own capacity to deliver technologically complex energy infrastructure. This expansion aligns with the firm's broader goal of diversifying its global portfolio amid rising demand for decarbonization and energy storage solutions across the ANZ region. By combining local market expertise with its established project execution capabilities, WRTL intends to bolster its footprint in developed markets while supporting New Zealand’s transition toward a cleaner energy mix.
