Perplexity brings agentic AI to Windows desktops

The expansion follows the company’s April release for macOS and builds upon existing integrations with Microsoft 365 and Teams. Perplexity designed this tool to bridge the gap between cloud-based AI and local computing, where much of the technical work in corporate environments still resides. By running locally, the agent interacts with documents and apps that were previously inaccessible to automated systems, allowing users to consolidate web research and internal file management into a single interface.

Access is currently restricted to Max and Enterprise Max subscribers, with tiers beginning at $200 per month. To address security concerns regarding sensitive data, the company confirmed the tool does not utilize user input for model training. Furthermore, the system requires explicit user confirmation before executing high-stakes tasks, such as sending emails or deleting files, ensuring a human remains in the loop during automated processes.
