Drift Fund Debuts Spot-Based Funded Trading Accounts
Proprietary trading firm Drift Fund has introduced spot-based funded accounts, marking a departure from the industry’s traditional reliance on leveraged derivatives. By providing real asset exposure without leverage, the Saint Lucia-based company aims to capture a segment of the crypto market that favors direct ownership over high-risk speculative instruments.

Until now, the funded-account sector has been dominated by leveraged futures and CFD products, often forcing traders into models that do not align with their preferences. CEO Tim Charkee noted that while spot trading serves as the primary gateway for most crypto participants, the industry had previously overlooked this demand. The new accounts allow traders to operate with capital up to $300,000, utilizing a browser-based terminal that eliminates the need for third-party software like MT5.
The firm’s structure includes a 90% profit split and 24-hour payout cycles, supported by a one-time challenge fee model. Traders can access approximately 267 crypto pairs, alongside select metals and indices. To ensure transparency, the platform enforces clear parameters, including a 10% profit target and a 6% maximum drawdown limit. Beyond the technical offering, Drift Fund is targeting growth in the Middle East and North Africa by providing services in both English and Arabic, lowering accessibility barriers for traders in regions with restricted traditional brokerage options.
