Senior Housing Project Breaks Ground in Sugar House

The site will feature one- and two-bedroom apartments reserved for seniors earning between 20% and 80% of the area median income. Beyond the residential units, the development includes a fitness center, community room, and bicycle storage, all situated with direct access to medical facilities and transportation hubs. A second tower is already in the planning stages for the southern portion of the lot.

Daniel Nackerman, Executive Director of the Housing Authority of Salt Lake City, described the project as an anomaly for the region. By placing 100% affordable housing on high-value land, the development serves as a countermeasure to local gentrification. The project is designed to allow long-term residents to age in place within a neighborhood that has seen rapid economic growth. Construction is scheduled to conclude by the end of 2027.
