UFP Industries Reports Mixed Second Quarter Results Amid Market Headwinds

While top-line growth was supported by a combination of strategic acquisitions and organic volume improvements, diluted earnings per share fell to $1.48 from $1.70 in the same period last year. The company cited a challenging macroeconomic environment, including geopolitical uncertainty and elevated freight rates, which spiked over 30 percent during the quarter due to tightening industry capacity.

Despite these hurdles, UFP Industries demonstrated resilience through its diversified portfolio. The Deckorators segment saw organic unit sales rise 9 percent, with Surestone decking products surging 37 percent. CEO Will Schwartz noted that the company is actively managing short-term disruptions while continuing to invest in margin-improving initiatives and cost-reduction programs. With $1.9 billion in liquidity, the company remains committed to a balanced capital allocation strategy, having completed three acquisitions and repurchased nearly $142 million in shares during the first half of the year.
