Aurelius Clinic Scales Hyperbaric Therapy for Veterans with TBI and PTSD

The Aurelius Brain Health and Human Performance Program, hosted at Harrisburg University, integrates hyperbaric oxygen therapy with transcranial magnetic stimulation and physical training. Since launching its first cohort on January 20, 2025, the clinic has treated patients from 25 states and two countries. The core of the treatment relies on HPO.TECH’s Atlantis and Mediterranean multiplace chambers, which operate at 2.0 ATA and utilize a breathing system synchronized to the user's respiratory rhythm.

Co-founded by Anson Flake and Robert Ortenzio, the initiative aims to provide advanced, holistic care to those in the intelligence community and Special Operations Forces. HPO.TECH has signaled long-term support for the mission by engineering a custom, four-seat chamber to be donated to the facility. The clinical approach is supported by a growing body of research, including studies in Military Medicine and Frontiers in Neurology that examine the efficacy of hyperbaric treatments for blast and blunt force injuries.

Legislative interest in the model is increasing as the program seeks to scale its impact. Pennsylvania Senator Dave McCormick recently visited the Harrisburg site and has introduced U.S. Senate Bill 3130, which explores potential federal funding to expand the reach of this accelerated protocol to more veterans nationwide.
