UAG Integrates DRYOUT Technology Into New Line of Rugged Gear
Most protective cases focus on keeping water out, but they fail once moisture inevitably creeps inside through ports or seams. To solve this, materials firm DRYOUT is partnering with Urban Armor Gear to launch a collection of bags and pouches that actively draw humidity away from electronics to prevent corrosion.
The collaboration marks the first time DRYOUT’s patented moisture-removal fabric has been integrated into a consumer carry line. Unlike standard desiccants, the material uses a layered design to pull moisture from devices up to six inches away. The technology requires no power or chemicals and can be reset by exposing the fabric to sunlight or forced airflow.
Laboratory testing shows the material absorbs ten times more moisture than an equivalent volume of rice, offering a proactive defense against lens fogging and shorted circuits. The initial collection, which hits global markets on July 27, 2026, features a variety of items including a 22L backpack, laptop sleeves, and dedicated rescue pouches for phones and AirPods. According to UAG Chief Brand Officer Casey Bevington, the partnership shifts the industry focus from simple impact resistance to active, internal device recovery.
