First Federal Bank Debuts Virtual Branch to Expand Digital Access
Lake City-based First Federal Bank has launched FFB Connect, a virtual branch platform enabling customers to interact with live staff via secure video, chat, and phone. The service aims to replicate the bank’s traditional in-person experience, allowing for account openings, loan applications, and consultations from any location.

The new digital channel serves as a hybrid extension of the bank’s existing network rather than a replacement for physical offices. According to Chief of Community Banking Stephanie McClendon, the initiative provides flexibility for clients who require expert guidance without the necessity of a commute. The platform includes integrated features for secure document signing and account maintenance, maintaining the same privacy standards as an in-branch visit.
To mark the rollout, the institution will host a virtual grand opening on August 12 at 4:00 p.m. ET. CEO John Medina noted that the tool is designed to meet modern consumer demands while preserving the personalized relationship banking model that has earned the firm accolades from publications like Newsweek. Currently managing over $4.5 billion in assets, the bank continues to operate its traditional locations across northern Florida and coastal South Carolina alongside this new virtual offering.
