Meijer Launches Six-Week Price Cut Campaign Across Midwest Stores

Midwest families are seeing significant relief at the checkout as Meijer rolls out discounts on over 1,000 grocery staples. Running through September 8, the promotion targets essential categories ranging from fresh produce and meat to household supplies, aiming to ease the financial burden for shoppers during the final weeks of summer.

The campaign features permanent price reductions on high-demand goods, including pork shoulder at $1.79 per pound and family-pack chicken drumsticks for $0.99 per pound. Shoppers will also find markdowns on pantry favorites like Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes and Vlasic pickles, alongside fresh produce such as strawberries and whole seedless watermelons. These savings are applied automatically at the shelf, online, and via the retailer's app, requiring no extra steps for customers.

Don Sanderson, Chief Merchandising & Marketing Officer at Meijer, stated that the move acknowledges the effort Midwesterners put into managing their household budgets. This initiative expands on a broader strategy that has already provided $2.5 million in savings throughout 2026. According to the American Customer Satisfaction Index, Meijer currently holds the top spot in the region for sales frequency and store convenience, a reputation the company intends to maintain with further planned discounts for the upcoming holiday season.
