Nemours Children's Health Names Patrice Harris Chief Health Impact Officer
Nemours Children's Health has appointed Dr. Patrice Harris, the 174th president of the American Medical Association, as its new Executive Vice President and Chief Health Impact Officer. Tasked with integrating the organization’s "Whole Child Health" model, she will bridge clinical care with community and public policy initiatives to improve pediatric outcomes.
Dr. Harris brings a multidisciplinary background to the role, having served as a practicing psychiatrist, a county public health director, and the CEO of the digital healthcare firm eMed. Her leadership at Nemours will focus on aligning the health system’s operational, financial, and advocacy teams to address the social determinants of health that impact children beyond the clinical setting. Lawrence Moss, President and CEO of Nemours, noted that her experience navigating both local public health challenges and national legislative policy makes her uniquely suited to scale their holistic care model.
During her tenure as District Health Director for Fulton County, Georgia, Dr. Harris gained significant experience addressing barriers to care and childhood trauma. Her academic background includes an adjunct professorship at Emory University School of Medicine and Morehouse School of Medicine. In her new capacity, she intends to advance health equity and solidify Nemours’ status as a national model for pediatric care. The health system operates two free-standing hospitals and a network of 80 primary and specialty care practices, supported by the legacy of the Alfred I. duPont foundation.
