Bloomberg Tax Updates Provision Platform for Global Reporting
Corporate tax departments face a mounting burden of international reporting requirements, forcing a shift away from manual spreadsheet reliance. Bloomberg Tax responded to this pressure on August 3, 2026, by launching an upgraded version of its Tax Provision platform designed to handle complex, multi-currency global calculations.

The updated system embeds ASC 740 logic directly into the software, moving beyond the traditional manual tie-outs that define legacy provision tools. By integrating multi-currency reporting and non-U.S. statutory tax rates, the platform allows multinational organizations to maintain audit-ready calculations while expanding across new jurisdictions. According to Evan Croen, head of Bloomberg Tax, the goal is to move past simple task automation toward connected workflows that provide strategic insight.
The release introduces several functional improvements, including detailed interim reporting for year-round tax planning and a multi-tab interface that lets users compare current and prior-year data side-by-side. Furthermore, the platform now incorporates an AI-powered Tax Research Assistant, which provides guidance on ASC 740 standards directly within the user workflow. These enhancements aim to reduce the manual effort typically required for data validation, allowing tax professionals to shift their focus toward high-level financial analysis.
