SITC Names 2026 Recipients for Cancer Immunotherapy Excellence
Five distinguished researchers and advocates will receive honors from the Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer this November. The awards, set to be presented during the organization’s annual meeting in Phoenix, highlight significant breakthroughs in clinical treatment, public service, and the fundamental science driving modern oncology forward.
The honorees represent a broad spectrum of influence within the medical community. Hans-Georg Rammensee of the University of Tübingen and Catherine J. Wu of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute have been named recipients of the Richard V. Smalley Memorial Award and Lectureship for their contributions to the field. Paolo Antonio Ascierto of the Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II will receive the 2026 Lifetime Achievement Award for his long-standing commitment to tumor immunology.
Additional recognition goes to Samantha Guild of the AIM at Melanoma Foundation, who is set to receive the Tara Withington Public Service Award, and Claudia Palena of the National Cancer Institute, honored with the Pedro J. Romero Service to JITC Award. SITC Vice President Sandra Demaria noted that these achievements underscore the collaborative spirit necessary to improve patient outcomes. The recipients will be formally recognized at the Phoenix Convention Center during the society's November 4–8 gathering.
