Chris Sain Jr. Commits $50,000 to Boost HBCU Wealth-Building
Financial educator Chris Sain Jr. is funding a $50,000 investment to help students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities build assets before graduation. Through his foundation, Sain is backing the MM Vested In U initiative, which aims to provide students with the capital and financial literacy required for long-term economic mobility.

The donation accounts for half of the initial $100,000 fundraising goal set by the Melanin Money Foundation. This capital supports a broader mission to assist 100,000 HBCU students in establishing investment accounts while still enrolled in school. By providing these resources early, the initiative seeks to bridge the gap between earning a degree and securing the financial assets necessary for generational wealth.
Research from the United Negro College Fund underscores the urgency of this work. Although HBCUs account for only 3% of American colleges, they produce 20% of all Black graduates. Many of these individuals enter the workforce without the capital buffers common in other demographic groups. By integrating investment opportunities into the collegiate experience, Sain and the Melanin Money Foundation aim to address the systemic wealth disparities that limit homeownership and business development for Black households.
Sain, who recently became the first Black finance creator to host a program from the New York Stock Exchange, views financial literacy as a primary equalizer. His contribution to the MM Vested In U program mirrors his ongoing community outreach, including his "Pull Up" campaign, which provides direct financial support to grassroots entrepreneurs and changemakers. Through these efforts, he intends to shift the focus from simple financial education to tangible asset ownership for the next generation.
