Zum Expands Seattle School Bus Operations Amid Hiring Drive
With the opening of its second operations lot in Seattle, student mobility firm Zum has scaled its local footprint to cover 80% of the district's transportation network. The milestone comes as the company pushes to fill remaining driver roles ahead of the upcoming academic year in August.

The new North Lot facility serves as the base for an expanded fleet that has grown from 180 to 279 routes, ensuring complete service coverage across North Seattle. During Friday’s ribbon-cutting ceremony, local officials from Seattle Public Schools and representatives from Teamsters Local 174 joined company leadership to highlight the operational shift. General Manager Paul Ahn cited the expansion as evidence that prioritizing driver investment yields consistent performance, noting a 98% on-time rate and a 4.9-star parent satisfaction rating.
To maintain this trajectory, Zum is hosting two additional hiring events at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Seattle North Lynnwood on August 4 and 5. These sessions allow candidates to interview on-site and initiate onboarding. As the company continues its rapid growth, the focus remains on stabilizing the workforce to meet the logistical demands of the 2026-2027 school year.
