Trilogy Metals advances US Department of War investment talks

Negotiations between Trilogy Metals and the U.S. Department of War remain active as the parties move toward a planned $35.6 million equity investment. The funding is earmarked for the continued exploration and development of the Upper Kobuk Mineral Projects, a vast copper-dominant mining district located in northwestern Alaska.

The company confirmed that the letter of intent, initially signed in October 2025, continues to serve as the foundation for these ongoing discussions. Trilogy Metals maintains a 50 percent interest in Ambler Metals LLC, the joint venture managing the 190,929-hectare site alongside partner South32 Limited. The project focuses on two primary assets, the Arctic VMS deposit and the Bornite carbonate replacement deposit, which contain significant concentrations of copper, zinc, lead, gold, and silver.

Development efforts in the Ambler Mining District operate under an agreement with the NANA Regional Corporation, an Alaska Native Corporation, aimed at balancing industrial extraction with local subsistence livelihoods. While the proposed investment marks a strategic push to bolster North American copper production, the company noted that the transaction remains subject to standard regulatory requirements and ongoing project evaluation.
