NYU Langone Secures Top National Ranking for Specialized Care
For the fifth consecutive year, NYU Langone Health has secured the highest number of No. 1-ranked specialties in the U.S. News & World Report’s annual assessment of medical centers. The New York-based health system outperformed nearly 4,500 institutions, cementing its status as a leader in clinical outcomes and patient experience.
The latest rankings highlight the institution's dominance in complex medicine, with neurology and neurosurgery retaining the top national spot for the fifth straight year. Cardiology, heart, and vascular surgery also maintained its No. 1 position for the second consecutive year. Beyond these leaders, every one of the 13 clinical specialties evaluated at NYU Langone placed within the top 20 nationally, with 12 landing in the top 10.
Alec C. Kimmelman, dean of NYU Grossman School of Medicine and CEO of NYU Langone Health, attributed the system's sustained performance to a granular focus on care team coordination and patient outcomes. The rankings encompass the system's major Manhattan hubs—Tisch Hospital, Kimmel Pavilion, and the Orthopedic Hospital—as well as regional facilities in Long Island and Brooklyn. Additionally, the system achieved 'high-performing' designations across all 23 common care procedures evaluated, demonstrating operational consistency. NYU Langone now shares the national lead for top-ranked specialties alongside the Mayo Clinic, UCSF Medical Center, and Johns Hopkins Hospital.
