El Bandido Yankee Secures Minority Business Enterprise Certification
El Bandido Yankee, the premium tequila brand co-founded by Jim Bob Morris, has officially secured Minority Business Enterprise certification from the National Minority Supplier Development Council. This designation highlights Morris’s Cherokee heritage and marks the brand as a rare Native American-linked player in the competitive U.S. spirits market.
The certification positions the tequila company alongside Morris’s other ventures, Morris Packaging and Heartland Supply, both of which already hold status as major minority-owned enterprises. By meeting the NMSDC’s rigorous standards, the brand gains a strategic advantage in the beverage alcohol sector, where corporate demand for diverse supplier partnerships continues to climb.
Dan Seals, President and CEO of Chicago MSDC, described the certification as a gold standard trusted by institutions and government agencies across the country. For Morris, the milestone serves as both a nod to his ancestry and a move to prove that minority-owned firms can lead at the highest industry levels. Currently, El Bandido Yankee produces four additive-free expressions in Amatitán, Jalisco, and maintains a distribution footprint spanning 22 states.
