WindRose Health Investors Backs Verified Clinical Trials
New York-based private equity firm WindRose Health Investors has finalized a recapitalization of Verified Clinical Trials, a global leader in clinical research compliance. The deal introduces Howard Miller as CEO, while founders Mitchell Efros and Kerri Weingard retain active roles to guide the company's next phase of growth.

The transaction aims to bolster VCT’s proprietary data and analytics capabilities, which serve pharmaceutical sponsors, clinical research organizations, and trial sites. By focusing on subject registry solutions, the company works to prevent duplicate enrollment and protocol violations, ensuring data integrity from the initial patient sign-up through the conclusion of a study.
CJ Burnes, a partner at WindRose, noted that the investment is intended to accelerate the platform’s development and reduce operational risks for clinical research constituents. The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Cantor Fitzgerald & Co. served as the exclusive financial advisor for VCT, with legal counsel provided by McDermott Will & Schulte LLP for the company and Latham & Watkins LLP for WindRose. With roughly $8 billion in assets under management, WindRose continues to target service-oriented healthcare firms with proven, scalable business models.
