Pickering Interfaces Launches 80A LXI Switching Platform
Engineers testing high-drain automotive and aerospace systems often rely on custom-built contactor assemblies, but Pickering Interfaces is aiming to standardize that process. The company’s new 60-191 LXI family enables programmable switching for signals reaching 80 A and 300 V, packing both power and sense channels into a single 4U chassis.

The 60-191 series offers four standard configurations, integrating up to twenty 40 A contactors alongside four 80 A units. By combining these with 1 A SPST sense relays, the system allows for the simultaneous management of power supply outputs and their corresponding sensing lines. Users can control relays individually or group them to simplify the four-wire switching required by modern power supplies.
Steven Edwards, Head of Product Management, noted that the platform replaces the need for bespoke assemblies by providing a fully tested, maintainable alternative. Beyond hardware, the units feature an onboard sequencing service capable of storing 5,000 operations. This reduces host system latency by offloading execution to the LXI controller. For maintenance, integrated relay cycle counting allows teams to track component wear and balance usage across the available paths.
The units connect via a 1000Base-T Ethernet interface and support a wide range of development environments, including LabVIEW, Python, and MATLAB. Designed for demanding applications like EV battery testing, fuel-cell research, and solar inverter validation, the family comes with a three-year warranty and long-term support guarantees.
