Lummus Technology Acquires Shell's Environmental Catalysts Business

The deal transfers intellectual property and specialized staff from Shell Catalysts & Technologies to Lummus, creating an integrated platform for emissions-reduction solutions. The ECS segment is recognized for its DeNOx systems, which target nitrogen oxide emissions and achieve removal rates of 98–99% for certain pollutants. This acquisition allows Lummus to provide end-to-end service, extending its influence across the full lifecycle of industrial assets.

Leon de Bruyn, President and CEO of Lummus Technology, noted that the move deepens cross-industry relationships and enhances the firm's ability to meet the growing demand for sustainable operations. Elise H. Nowee, President of Shell Catalysts & Technologies, stated that the divestment ensures the ECS business is positioned for continued growth under a partner with a proven history in specialized catalyst applications. Shell will support the transition period to maintain service continuity for existing customers. By absorbing these assets, Lummus positions itself to address the increasingly stringent environmental standards facing the global energy sector.
