Leifras Joins National Reform Seminar on Japanese School Sports

The seminar addressed the urgent need to modernize extracurricular activities, drawing participants from 414 municipalities nationwide. As the Japan Sports Agency and local education boards navigate the shift toward community-led sports, the discourse centered on balancing teacher workload reforms with the preservation of high-quality athletic environments for students.

Hironori Nishikaji, General Manager of the Social Business Division at Leifras, represented the private sector during a panel discussion alongside representatives from the Kumagashi Club and the Heguri Town Board of Education. The discussion highlighted practical hurdles, such as securing qualified local personnel and establishing robust safety-management systems for community-run programs. Leifras, which currently operates one of Japan's largest networks of children's sports schools, shared its operational model as a potential blueprint for regions struggling with the transition. The company continues to position itself as a strategic partner for boards of education aiming to maintain student engagement while offloading administrative burdens from schools.
