AIR Control Concepts expands into California with Vertical Systems buy

Vertical Systems, which operates out of Los Angeles, Sacramento, and San Diego, will retain its current branding and leadership structure. The move allows AIR to fold a high-performance HVAC specialist into its national network, which already spans more than 50 operating companies across North America and Europe. For Vertical Systems co-founder Blair Boyce, the partnership provides the resource backing of a global platform while allowing his team to maintain the customer-service model established over the last two decades.

Brad Hobbs, CEO of AIR Control Concepts, noted that the acquisition aligns with the firm’s strategy of preserving entrepreneurial cultures within its subsidiaries. By adding the California firm’s expertise in mission-critical facilities and energy-efficient building solutions, AIR aims to broaden its lifecycle support—ranging from initial capital planning to long-term facility optimization. Hayden Bland, COO of AIR, added that the integration strengthens the company’s technical capabilities, specifically regarding complex commercial applications and controls integration.
