The decision to invest in a cloud subscription originated in 2018 during a high-stakes project. While local backups were initially sufficient, the accumulation of sensitive assets created a single point of failure: if the physical machine and its local storage vanished, the project would collapse. Relying on a single location for hardware backups proved to be a risky gamble, prompting a move to Dropbox.
