BMNT and GovSignals Launch Fast-Track Acquisition for Special Operations

The Special Operations Forces Rapid Acquisition Consortium for Emerging Requirements (SOF RACER) removes the financial barriers typically associated with defense contracting. Unlike legacy models, the consortium charges no membership dues and takes no percentage of contract awards. Instead, the U.S. Special Operations Forces Acquisition, Technology and Logistics directorate operates on a fixed-price model, prioritizing project throughput over administrative fees.

BMNT serves as the operational core of the initiative. The firm is responsible for curating complex military requirements into actionable problem sets that commercial entities can address. By recruiting companies that have never previously collaborated with the Department of War, BMNT seeks to bridge the gap between niche technological innovators and frontline military needs. Prospective members submit condensed solution briefs rather than exhaustive formal proposals, significantly shortening the window between the identification of a need and the final award.

"The companies that will define the next decade of special operations capability mostly haven't met SOCOM yet," said Brian Miller, President of BMNT. The organization plans to hold an introductory session for potential partners on August 20, 2026, to outline how commercial developers can participate in the 12 areas of interest, which include cyber, energy, and human performance.
