Bota Box Brings Napa Valley Cabernet to 1.5-Liter Format

Priced at $20, the new Limited Reserve Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon from Bota Box aims to bridge the gap between premium viticulture and convenient, sustainable packaging. The release offers the equivalent of two standard 750-milliliter bottles in a single portable, bag-in-box unit available at select retailers nationwide.

Winemaker Alicia Ysais developed the blend by pulling from recent Napa Valley vintages, focusing on notes of black cherry, blackberry, and cedar. The wine is designed for immediate consumption, prioritizing the bold structure expected from the region while utilizing the brand's signature stay-fresh technology. Andrew Blok, vice president of marketing, noted that the company is targeting both its established customer base and traditional glass-bottle wine drinkers who have yet to explore boxed alternatives.

The product is currently rolling out across select Kroger stores and independent retailers, including locations in New York and Tennessee. This release marks a strategic expansion for the Delicato Family Wines portfolio, which has historically dominated the premium 3-liter boxed wine category. By offering a smaller 1.5-liter size, the company seeks to maintain its focus on a reduced carbon footprint compared to traditional glass bottling while appealing to shoppers looking for high-end regional wine at a competitive price point.
