Urban One Transitions Digital 'ONE Yard' to Multi-City HBCU Tour
Moving beyond the constraints of digital screens, Urban One is launching a live, multi-city tour titled ONE Yard: The HBCU Experience. The media powerhouse aims to combat what it identifies as "algorithm fatigue" among Gen Z by creating physical, community-focused hubs at campuses across the country.

The tour kicks off at Bowie State University on August 27, followed by a stop at Clark Atlanta University on September 2. These events are modeled after the traditional HBCU "yard," serving as a village for entertainment, wellness, and professional growth. Each activation features distinct zones, including the Aura Arcade for gaming, a Wellness Zone for grooming and meditation, and the Cookout Corridor, which highlights regional food. The initiative also provides career-focused resources through "University Row," offering students mentorship and professional development tools.
Jeff Meza, Urban One's EVP and head of branded entertainment, stated that the project provides a scalable bridge for brands to engage with younger demographics through a mix of live events and digital storytelling. Tiffany Nasralla, the company's co-chief revenue officer, emphasized that the tour is intended to allow brands to invest directly in the future of HBCU communities. By partnering with local student organizations, Urban One intends for these activations to support student retention and success. The company, which reaches 80 million monthly consumers, views this expansion as a long-term commitment to amplifying emerging voices within the Black academic community.
