Cross-Border Retirement Guide Debuts on Audible

For snowbirds and expatriates navigating the complex financial divide between Canada and the United States, expert guidance is now available on the go. Lucas Wennersten’s comprehensive retirement manual, Crossing the 49th Parallel, has officially transitioned to an audiobook format, offering mobile access to critical tax and cross-border planning strategies.

The four-hour and 41-minute production, narrated by Mateus R. Gomes, addresses the logistical hurdles of managing assets across two jurisdictions. Wennersten, a dual-licensed CFP and CFA, focuses on the tax implications for retirement accounts like RRSPs, 401(k)s, and Roth IRAs. The guide specifically tackles the frequent pitfalls that lead to double taxation, such as the treatment of TFSAs for U.S. persons, and provides a framework for sequencing withdrawals across different currency systems and tax regimes.

"Most people moving between Canada and the U.S. are handed advice built for one side of the border," says Wennersten. The release coincides with the launch of a free suite of thirteen interactive calculators on the firm’s website, allowing readers to apply the book’s concepts to their personal circumstances, such as the Substantial Presence Test and estate exposure. The audiobook is currently available on Audible for $15.34, supplementing the existing print and Kindle editions.
