MedStar Health Opens Fourth D.C. Urgent Care Clinic in NoMa
Located at 1231 3rd Street NE, a new 4,000-square-foot MedStar Health facility has opened its doors in the NoMa neighborhood. The clinic provides local residents and Gallaudet University students with direct access to urgent care services, including diagnostic testing and specialized telehealth consultations, situated steps from the Metro station.
This site marks the 35th addition to MedStar Health’s regional system. Designed to bridge gaps in local medical access, the clinic features seven exam rooms, an X-ray suite, and a laboratory capable of immediate PCR testing for respiratory illnesses, alongside rapid STI and HIV screening. Patients also gain a streamlined pathway to the broader MedStar network, including specialist referrals in fields ranging from cardiology to orthopedics.
Beyond general services, the center emphasizes accessibility for the deaf and hard-of-hearing community, offering language interpretation and American Sign Language support. For Gallaudet University students, the clinic’s daily hours—running from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.—address a critical need for medical support outside of standard campus health service hours. According to B. Elizabeth Delasobera, vice president and chief medical officer of MedStar Health Ambulatory Services, the expansion aims to improve long-term health outcomes by positioning care directly within the communities that require it most. A fifth D.C. location is already planned for the Van Ness neighborhood in early 2027.
