Blacksmith Secures $45 Million to Solve the AI-Driven Code Bottleneck

As AI agents flood development teams with massive volumes of new pull requests, the infrastructure responsible for testing and validation is buckling under the pressure. To address this, Blacksmith has raised a $45 million Series B round, pushing the company’s valuation to $550 million in a push for faster deployment.

Peak XV Partners led the investment, with backing from existing participants Y Combinator and GV. The funding arrives as Blacksmith experiences a rapid scaling phase, with its customer base expanding from 800 clients last September to over 6,000 today. Companies such as Supabase, Clerk, Ashby, and Mercury now rely on the platform to prevent their continuous integration (CI) workflows from stalling.

Aditya Jayaprakash, co-founder and CEO, noted that while AI tools have simplified the act of writing software, they have simultaneously created a testing crisis. Every line of code generated by an agent must still navigate the validation gauntlet before reaching production. To meet this demand, Blacksmith intends to scale its compute footprint by an order of magnitude, moving beyond simple CI acceleration to include autonomous diagnostic tools like codesmith, which can automatically identify and fix CI failures.
