Honor’s latest device features a camera lens mounted on a motorized gimbal arm that unfolds directly from the chassis. While cramming a mechanical stabilizer into a smartphone risks creating a bulky, awkward hybrid, early testing suggests the company has successfully integrated hardware typically reserved for dedicated handheld gimbals.

The device measures 9.6mm in thickness and weighs 248g, dimensions that feel substantial compared to modern, ultra-slim flagships. Despite the bulk, the engineering feat is significant; Honor claims the internal mechanism is the smallest gimbal currently in production. When inactive, the camera module remains shielded behind a sliding plastic cover, protecting the sensitive hardware during daily use.

Functionality relies on a 200-megapixel, 1/1.28-inch-type sensor that operates as the primary camera regardless of the gimbal's status. The system is further bolstered by a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto and a 50-megapixel ultrawide lens. Users must manually slide the protective cover aside before the gimbal arm unfurls via software command, shifting the shield to cover the auxiliary lenses and leaving the stabilized primary sensor free to capture footage. Though the physical footprint challenges current design trends, the mechanical precision offers a stabilization capability previously impossible to achieve without external accessories.
